Unique Natural Farming Processes

Nutrilite is the only global vitamin and dietary supplement brand to grow, harvest and process plants on our own certified organic farms.* All our farms—over 2590 hectares (6400 acres) in California, Washington State, Mexico and Brazil—replenish the soil and avoid synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers. They are also global good neighbours dedicated to giving back to the community.

    Trout Lake East

    Ephrata, Washington, USA

Trout Lake Farm’s 283 hectares (700 acres) in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains is the largest certified organic herb farm in North America. Irrigation is provided by the glacier-fed White Salmon River, fed by glaciers from the mountains. Trout Lake Valley, where the farm is located, is exclusively organic—there’s no conventional farming in the valley, and the surrounding mountains help keep out pollution.

Primary crops: blueberry, Echinacea purpurea, Echinacea angustifolia, oregano, peppermint, nettle, valerian, white kidney bean, dandelion, lemon balm, black cohosh.

Nutrilite farms: The Global Good Neighbour

Trout Lake Farm is committed to contributing to the local communities, actively supporting the town of Trout Lake with a major yearly contribution to the Trout Lake Scholarship Fund, and donating to community programmes.

  • RANCHO EL PETACAL

    RANCHO EL PETACAL

    Jalisco, Mexico

Rancho El Petacal is a 566-hectare (1400 acres), certified organic farm in southwestern Mexico. It has the ideal growing climate with plenty of sunshine and rainfall–perfect for growing nutrient-rich plants for our Nutrilite products, and for growing test plots for research. The farm is also a major source of jobs for the local community. Our reforestation programmes in the area have helped increase biodiversity and maintain the region’s natural equilibrium.

Primary crops: spinach, kale, broccoli, watercress, parsley, grapefruit, orange, lemon, oregano, sage, and asparagus.

Nutrilite farms: The Global Good Neighbour

The Nutrilite farm at Rancho El Petacal runs a Cultural and Education Support Center. Here, we provide basic education on nutrition and ecology as well as help with local projects, such as building a new church for the community.

  • FAZENDA AMWAY NUTRILITE DO BRASIL

    FAZENDA AMWAY NUTRILITE DO BRASIL

    Ubajara, Brazil

Fazenda Nutriorganica is the largest Nutrilite farm. All 1660 hectares (4100 acres) are certified 100% organic. Year-round, the farm produces acerola cherries, which provide 100% of our need for the natural ascorbic acid (vitamin C) used in Nutrilite products. Most destructive pests and disease problems are prevented by providing balanced organic nutrients, such as the natural fertiliser from our 300 head of cattle on the farm, ensuring strong, healthy growth.

Primary crops: acerola, picão preto (also called Spanish needle) and passion fruit.

Nutrilite farms: The Global Good Neighbour

Fazenda Nutriorganica was formerly a desolate, undeveloped tract of land. It is now a beacon of productive work and learning, as well as professional and personal development. A reforestation project along the banks of the nearby Jaburu River, organised by Nutrilite, is now underway.

    1. ENHANCING SOIL WITH NITROGEN

Leguminous cover crops are planted to fix soil with the nitrogen required for plant growth.

  • 2. PLOUGHING SOIL WITH EARTHWORMS

    2. PLOUGHING SOIL WITH EARTHWORMS

Organic nutrients are added into the soil. When earthworms burrow through the soil, plant roots can grow more extensively.

  • 3. COVERING WITH PLASTIC SHEETS

    3. COVERING WITH PLASTIC SHEETS

The leguminous plants are covered with plastic sheets. Once they wither under the sunlight, they are used as compost.

  • 4. GROWING THE RAW INGREDIENT PLANTS

    4. GROWING THE RAW INGREDIENT PLANTS

Once the nutrient-rich soil is ready, raw ingredient plants are grown. Underground water is used for irrigation.

  • 5. PROTECTING CROPS NATURALLY

    5. PROTECTING CROPS NATURALLY

The larvae of ladybugs and mayflies, as well as eagles and owls help protect the crops from insects, birds, and other pests.

  • 6. HARVESTING AT PEAK STAGE

    6. HARVESTING AT PEAK STAGE

The crops are harvested at their peak of potency. Only parts with the most nutritional value are collected.

  • 7. CLEARING FIELDS USING SHEEP

    7. CLEARING FIELDS USING SHEEP

Flocks of sheep are herded to graze the fields of stubble after the crops have been harvested.

  • 8. ALLOWING FOR FALLOW TIME

    8. ALLOWING FOR FALLOW TIME

After 3-4 years of planting and harvesting, the field is left for a period of time to allow the soil to replenish its fertility naturally.
